Artistic Statement
What makes someone human? Every character in fiction is human in some way even if they aren't specifically human in their story. From Tragedy to Comedy, from Musical to Straight play, each character has had a life they have had to journey thorugh. Through my art I always try to learn more about the human experience in order to give a more authentic version of my performance. Through this process, I connect with the character on a deeper level, making myself and the character become one in the same. A person is human because of their thoughts, emotions, experiences.
As an actor, I have had the pleasure of working on a plethora of different genres, including: Dramatic Contemporary with Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Chekhovian with Three Sisters, Period Drama with Amadeus, comedia del’ arte with Tartuffe, and shakespearean with Measure for Measure which I am currently working on. All of these different genres have characters that have had previous lives and experiences that have shaped who they are as people. For me, it is extremely important to understand the lives of the characters I play, because it helps me to feel more alive as an actor.
